- Never? In 1985 the top-of-the-line PC was a 6 MHz 80286-based IBM PC-AT
- and cost around $5K. The Mac was an 8MHz 68000, but IIRC its screen DMA
- stole a noticeable portion of that (for crummy black&white.) The A1000
- was very competitive in raw horsepower (my guess is that it was faster
- than either) and cheaper, too.
